The Employment Policy Department promotes full and freely chosen employment by developing integrated policies that maximize the impact of economic growth and investment on labour market outcomes. In doing so, it supports a comprehensive agenda for employment that is inclusive, environmentally sustainable and gender sensitive. A key area of focus of the Department centres on providing technical support to member States in achieving the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030, in particular, Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all. At the global level, the Department advocates and promotes policy frameworks and partnerships that aim at generating more and better quality employment opportunities. At the country level, it supports efforts by ILO constituents to develop, implement and monitor coordinated and context-specific policies and programmes that promote quality job creation through economic diversification and investment strategies, skills development and labour market policies to activate the most vulnerable groups and assist them in finding decent jobs. These include policies and programmes facilitating the transition of millions of people from the informal to the formal economy, and increasing employment and income opportunities in the rural economy. November, 2019 - November, -0001 structuring article correctly

One of the key goals when writing a journal article is to communicate the findings clearly. In order to help researchers achieve that objective, scientific papers share a common structure (with slight variations per journal). Clear communication isn’t the only reason these article elements are so important; for example, the title, abstract, and keywords all help to ensure the article is found, indexed, and advertised to potential readers. In this interactive module, we walk early career researchers through each of the building blocks. We help you understand the type of content each element should contain. We also share tips on how you can maximize their potential, such as key points to consider when writing your article title. You will come away with the detailed knowledge you need to write an effective scientific article, increasing your chances of publication success. elsevier.com / Online International

November, 2019 - November, -0001 get book published

Books play an important role in defining the landscape in a particular discipline or field. Whatever your career stage, if you have yet to publish or contribute to a book, it could be time to reconsider! In this module, Stacy Masucci, a Senior Acquisitions Editor for Elsevier S&T Books, explains the benefits of becoming a book author or editor. She explores the results of a survey that asked book authors to share their motivations, and you’ll hear directly from some of them about what inspired them to take the first step. Stacy also highlights the variety of ways you can get involved in book writing; where publishing might fit into your career path, (for example, you might start by taking on a co-author role or contributing a book chapter); and how Elsevier can help you realize your book publishing goals. You’ll come away with the information you need to judge whether publishing a book is the right path for you and an understanding of how you can get involved. elsevier.com / Online International
